Why this recipe existsThis is our best treat. You can eat it whenever you feel like it, but you'll never get tired of it.

Add a teaspoon of salt to warm water, pour in oil, then add an egg and stir with a wooden spoon. If necessary,  add a little more flour. When the dough is thick enough,  you can knead it by hand, tip it out of the bowl onto a floured surface and knead.

Then brush the loaf with oil and let it rest for half an hour. In the meantime, prepare the filling.

Roll out the dough on a cloth and spread the filling on it. Roll it up with the help of a rolling pin.

Cut it into pieces long enough to cook in a pot. Wrap the individual pieces in a cloth, tie them with string, and cook them in salted water. Cook for about 25 minutes. Place the cooked strudel on a board still wrapped in the cloth, where it should rest for a while, then unwrap it, cut it into pieces, and sprinkle with breadcrumbs roasted in butter.

Another tip: start rolling the dough on a floured table, then place it on a cloth and stretch it out. Cut the roll into smaller pieces by pressing down on it with the handle of a wooden spoon and cutting it there.
